Cocaine's immediate physical effects include raised breathing rate, raised blood pressure and body temperature, and dilated pupils.

One of the most detrimental side effectst of heroin, is heroin addiction itself.

The researchers found that the nerve cells (neurons) damaged by ecstasy are those that use the chemical serotonin to communicate with other neurons.

Once they are addicted, the heroin abusers' primary purpose in life becomes seeking and using heroin. Heroin literally changes their brains.

Demerol Side Effects

Demerol is a narcotic analgesic with effects similar to morphine; the most prominent of these involve the central nervous system and organs composed of smooth muscle. When prescribed it is used for relief of moderate to severe pain. Demerol is addictive. When the user repeatedly uses Demerol they build a tolerance to the drug and this creates both a mental and physical addiction. An allergic reaction to Demerol includes such side effects as: pruritus, urticaria, other skin rashes.

Demerol side effects include but are not limited to:

  • lightheadedness
  • dizziness
  • sedation
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • sweating
  • respiratory depression
  • circulatory depression
  • respiratory arrest
  • shock
  • cardiac arrest
  • euphoria
  • dysphoria
  • weakness
  • headache
  • agitation
  • tremor
  • uncoordinated muscle movements
  • severe convulsions
  • transient hallucinations and disorientation
  • visual disturbances
  • dry mouth
  • constipation
  • biliary tract spasm
  • flushing of the face
  • tachycardia
  • bradycardia
  • palpitation
  • hypotension
  • urinary retention
